Saban Celebrates Power Rangers, Paul Frank
Saban Brands is kicking off the 20th anniversary of the Power Rangers in 2013 with the debut of “Megaforce,” the next chapter in the iconic adventure heroes’ series. The program is scheduled to debut on Nickelodeon early next year. Throughout the year, the Power Rangers will also have a prominent presence at several large events and surprise appearances across the globe. Saban is also unveiling its partnership with global home furnishings manufacturer Najarian Furniture Company to expand its quirky Paul Frank brand into youth furniture. The collection, targeted to toddlers through teens, will feature complete bedroom sets, storage cubes, stackable ottomans and desk chairs. NBCUniversal Partners for Biggest Loser Pros
NBCUniversal Television Consumer Products Group is getting into the fitness category with a partnership for the The Biggest Loser Live Training program. NBCUniversal and the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America will team to offer certification for fitness professionals to become official “Biggest Loser Pros,” as well as direct-to-consumer fitness options with online and on-site training. AFAA certified trainers will be able to offer their clients safe and effective ways to lose weight. In honor of the debut of the program, AFAA will offer free workout sessions conducted live online with Biggest Loser Pros, July 18 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The session will feature a series of 20-minute workouts running every half hour. “AFAA is a great partner to work with on the launch of The Biggest Loser Live Training program,” says Kim Niemi, senior vice president, NBCUniversal Television Consumer Products. “The certification of Biggest Loser fitness professionals, combined with the online and onsite training, will make The Biggest Loser lifestyle more accessible to fans at home and help them to lead healthier, more active lifestyles.”
NBCUniversal Goes Retro
NBCUniversal Television Consumer Products is highlighting several of its classic television properties this year. The round-up of offerings includes: ◾ Battlestar Galactica retro figures from Bif Bang Pow!, costumes from Anovos and high-end art prints of Ralph McQuarrie’s original Battlestar Galactica concept from EFX Collectibles; ◾ Eddie and Marilyn Munster action figure two-pack from Diamond Select Toys; ◾ The Munsters house model kit from Moebius Models; and ◾ Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman trading cards from Rittenhouse Archives. The products will to hit shelves in July with the Battlestar Galactica retro figures. 12
